Customising Notification Preferences
Customising Notification Preferences 🔔
Section titled “Customising Notification Preferences 🔔”Vanlife Assistant is designed to keep you safe and legally compliant on the road, which means it occasionally needs to remind you about expiring MOTs, due vehicle services, or Schengen zone limits.
However, you have total control over when and how often these alerts occur.
🛠️ Accessing Notification Settings
Section titled “🛠️ Accessing Notification Settings”- Open the Settings tab.
- Scroll down and tap on General.
- Tap on Notification Settings at the bottom of the list.
⏰ Timing and Quiet Hours
Section titled “⏰ Timing and Quiet Hours”You don’t want to be woken up at 3:00 AM because your passport expires in 90 days.
- Preferred Time: Choose the exact time of day you would like to receive non-urgent reminders (e.g., 09:00 AM).
- Quiet Hours: Set a “From” and “To” time. If an alert is triggered during these hours, the app will silently hold it back and deliver it at your next allowed time.
🔁 Overdue Behaviour
Section titled “🔁 Overdue Behaviour”If you miss an alert (like a vehicle service or a scheduled bill), you can choose how the app nags you about it:
- Only notify when overdue: Toggle this on if you don’t want advance warnings, only alerts when something has actually expired.
- Repeat overdue reminders: Choose whether the app should remind you Daily, Every 3 Days, or Weekly until the task is marked as complete.
🗄️ Glovebox Expiry
Section titled “🗄️ Glovebox Expiry”The Glovebox handles critical documents like Passports and Insurance. You can explicitly turn on or off different warning stages:
- 90-day heads-up: Essential for passports, as many countries require 3 months of validity for entry!
- 30-day reminder: Ideal for vehicle insurance renewals.
- Expired weekly nag: Ensures you don’t accidentally drive without valid cover. (If you change these settings, you may see the app automatically rebuild your scheduled notifications in the background).
🚐 Maintenance Lead Time
Section titled “🚐 Maintenance Lead Time”For vehicle servicing and MOTs:
- Lead time: Choose how much warning you want before a service is due (0, 7, 14, or 30 days).
- Include distance-based tasks (estimated): The app is incredibly smart. It analyses your past driving history to calculate your average daily distance. If this is toggled on, it will estimate exactly what date you will hit your next mileage service interval and schedule a notification for you! 👉 See Due Dates and Location Triggers.
